Saltfest 2014 has come and gone and, once again, we can report a very successful day. It began, as usual, with a parade through the town of all those dressed in costume which included members of Sobbs, with Jane and Monica carrying the banner for our playlet which depicted a mediaeval feast. This followed the business of the day when Salt matters for the year were decided upon – an interesting piece of history! We also raised in excess of £150 from donations for our recently acquired pens and bugs all of which bear the Sobbs logo, together with website address and email address.
We were blessed with much sunshine and consequently the public were out in force, joining in our songs ‘from the First World War’, with words appropriate to our brine heritage and Mike Johns gave a rendition of his Brine Song as well as several other pithy numbers.
Our most recent Jumble Sale raised another £80.00
The pens and bugs will be displayed at the Spire Clinic on Worcester Road where donations for them can be made using an honesty box. The same is happening at the Leisure Centre in Droitwich and, hopefully, we will be able to find a couple more venues for them.
Once we have Charitable Status it will be full steam ahead! We have lots of ideas for fund raising so please keep a look out for future events and do come and support us!
